The company uses AI technology to rapidly predicts consumer response to content (mostly movies and TV series), unlocking actionable insights that drive audience engagement.
Think of IMDb but smarter, think of Google trends especially for movies, think of Similarweb, but instead of websites data you get TV shows insights and predictions that worth money.
I was drinking a lot of coffee mostly.
But on my spare time, I was the product designer of the company- I took the ownership of the UX and UI of both internal and external company’s products.
Internal product: The analysts platform
Where the magic happens. In this platform the analysts use the raw data the AI is producing and turns it into a report of actionable insights for the clients.
External product: Studiobook
In this platform the clients can research the market through data and predictions the company has collected over the years on movies and TV shows.
These are the steps our product team went through on each feature we worked on.
The participants in this proccess were: VP product, product manager, front and back end developers, head of R&D and myself.
The main clients of the company are the distribution companys.
These are the incumbents that Studio AI has served and worked with.
Feature design for Studiobook- Company’s external platform.
The requirement was to find the best solution for the user to search for specific movies and allow him to filter the results by over 15 parameters.
After brainstorming, the team came up with these 3 valid versions: Accordion, sidebar and popup.
Out of these 3 valid options, the team has chosen the pop up modal.
The main UX considirations were:
• Avoid “jumping” in the UI.
• In order to show the large amount of parameters in a clean and clear design, a big enough real estate is required.
• Reduce user’s distractions.
In our case, popup modal improves the user experience dramatically.
The platform contains a large amount of parameters (some of them are complicated and analytic), for that reason, the design should be accessible and clear. Popup, in this case, allows using the biggest real estate for visualizing the data in a proper design.
2.0 Version for Studiobook- the external platform.
This project was on the queue to development, but didn’t make it to production due to company’s layoffs on November 2022.
Redesigning a platform is a long and wide project, I will sum up the main UX considirations and desicions we had in this proccess.
• Making the platform more intuitive and easy to use.
• Adding more features for better and deeper user's insights.
• Visualizing the data in a more accessible design.
• Designing a pixel perfect UI that is connected to a consistent design system.
The proccess included changing the subscription model of the platform, adding account levels and develop a lead generation funnel.
Redesigning Studiobook from scratch required building a strong design foundations, or in other words- a powerfull design system.
The building proccess has began with the simplest style guide and continued to be more and more complex and and powerful, allowing to control the company’s design through the main components of the design system.
